Teaching, Research and Scholarly Work

Our hospitalists actively engage in scholarly work, including teaching, research, evaluation studies and quality improvement work. Below, you can find a selected sample of their peer-reviewed articles, reviews, letters and case reports; published conference abstracts and proceedings; identifiable research or QI posters; and formal QI project presentations from 2015 onwards.

Medical Education

Our hospitalists are members of the Division of Hospitalist Medicine within the Department of Family and Community Practice. Additionally, they are faculty members within the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia. They actively engage in teaching medical trainees in the following categories:

  • UBC Undergraduate Medical Students

  • Family Medicine residents from the St Paul’s IMG Site: Trainees regularly rotate through VGH with our hospitalists

  • Family Medicine residents from various sites: We routinely accommodate electives from 1st and 2nd year residents

  • Hospital Medicine Fellowship: VGH is part of the UBC Enhanced Skills program; we provide a unique training opportunity for those interested in a robust academic program.
